The Liberec Sport Park offers public ice-skating sessions each winter season, starting in September and ending in March. In this arena, you can ice skate every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at weekends between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. You can rent ice skates or use the on-site blade sharpening services. You’ll also find similar winter stadiums offering ice skating to the public in Jablonec nad Nisou, Česká Lípa, Turnov, Lomnice nad Popelkou, Frýdlant, Vrchlabí and Nová Paka

If the weather conditions allow it, every year a great number of concrete playgrounds and tennis courts are transformed into ice rinks thanks to sprayed ice. You’ll find such rinks in Tanvald, Harrachov and Josefův Důl. Similar rinks can also be found in Nový Bor, Semily, at the Horal hotel in Špindlerův Mlýn, at Lesní Chalet in Černý Důl and the Giant Mountains’ Martinice.

You can ice skate at your own risk on many fish ponds in the Jizera Mountains and the Česká Lípa area. Before you decide to go ice skating on natural ice, though, beware that the ice should be at least seven centimetres thick and the temperature should be below zero for it to be safe. Otherwise, you might end up taking a very unpleasant dip!
