Annotation:Contemporary fine art takes many forms. These include studio art glass and jewellery, the creation of which has been the focus of several generations of artists. This time, the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou has decided to present the works of forty of them in a thematic exhibition called Space. The author of the attractive installation is Ricardo Hoineff, a glass artist and set designer of Brazilian origin, known for his collaboration with a number of Czech television stations.

Detailed description:

Thanks to the exhibited objects and the attractive installation concept, the museum's exhibition hall has been transformed into a universe with dozens of planets and asteroids, flying objects and previously unseen wonders. As the museum director Milada Valečková said, "The exhibition is made up of works by authors that correspond to the theme of the universe in name or character. The curators Kateřina Nora Nováková and Dagmar Havlíčková have been preparing it with selected artists for almost two years." Visitors can find free and used glass objects or jewellery symbolizing the artists' ideas about the shape of the universe using various techniques and material combinations. "The exhibits in the exhibition are grouped into logical units according to the original intention of their authors. In their work, the artists mirror the unique shapes and colours of cosmic formations and bodies or respond to technical devices for observing and exploring them," said curator Kateřina Nora Nováková. Glass is the most represented material in the exhibition. According to curator Dagmar Havlíčková, "There are few substances that can be as changeable as glass, which is why many artists use it in their work, some as the main material, others as a supplement." The museum chose the theme of space with an eye to making it artistically appealing to artists working with glass. Some of the works will even have their premiere at the exhibition. The exhibition Universe - Contemporary Studio Glass and Jewellery can be visited at the Jablonec Museum of Glass and Jewellery from 20 May to 11 September.
